Client Testimonials

Dan is the absolute best. I'm a newer author that was looking for advice and guidance about style, grammar, and general 'rules' of writing having no formal training. Dan has been incredible during our coaching and provided me with great insight and advice to help better my writing. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Starting with his sample edit as an example of his services, Dan has been fantastic. He's friendly, affirming, and insightful. He's also accommodated my financial limitations, allowing me to pay larger fees in installments. I'm beyond satisfied!

Working with Dan on my [novels] was a terrific experience. Not only is he gentle in his feedback, but he is also respectful of the author's story and use of language while improving both. Dan is a consummate professional and a pleasure to work with. He was always on time or early and delivered exactly what he promised. From now on, he is my go-to editor for all projects. I cannot recommend Dan enough.

Dan was an absolute delight to work with. From our initial telephone conversation I knew that he would be the right person to edit my novel. As a novice writer I had a very strong idea of the story which I had worked over the first few years in making the first few drafts. Once that was finished I did need the help of an experienced editor in a strong line edit which Dan did brilliantly. His contact and communication was always timely and the work done within the deadlines set. He also gave some very crucial and helpful advice on how to add in elements to the story to take it to the next level which was over and above his remit. Dan is the editor that every writer can benefit from. Highly recommended. That's enough of a backstory. Dan worked very hard on my novel during the festive season too. I'm dyslexic and through Dan's help my novel is what it is today. I can't tell you how invaluable this man was to my book. He is a very good communicator and an even better editor. If you are looking for an editor for your next piece of work I would highly recommend this man!

I found Dan after I almost got scammed by a Facebook editor. He wasn't even gonna be my editor because this other guy promised to edit my 145k word novel in 7 days for £300 pounds. Dan helped me out and found this other guy bogus page. I would be £300 poorer before coming back to him if he hadn't stepped in to help me. That's enough of a backstory. Dan worked very hard on my novel during the festive season too. I'm dyslexic and through Dan's help my novel is what it is today. I can't tell you how invaluable this man was to my book. He is a really good editor! Goes beyond what you think an editor should do. He ask questions that make you think, and gives advice that betters your work. If you want truth about your work, he’s the guy to go to!

[Dan] helped me to be more confident as a writer and worked on a 'can do attitude' with me. He teased the answers to questions with such warmth and good will that I had to think about answering the questions correctly. I will recommend this gig to anyone and the the coaching programme is good value for money.

With all the nerves and uncertainty that comes with writing a novel, a ray of light and guidance is welcomed. Dan turned on the light with his thorough developmental edit. I held my breath, but his professionalism was way above my expectation. He has the correct balance of delivering critique and fresh ideas so comfortably I am more motivated than before. I truly couldn't recommend Dan enough. Now for the final edit!

When I started working on my 2nd book, I had a very definite idea of how I wanted it to be. 60,000 words later and a couple of rejected ‘requested’ submissions later, with point blank ‘not interested’ I knew there was something wrong.

However, I didn’t feel able to engage again; mentally or emotionally! One thing was niggling though, the potential of cutting most of what I’d written (part one) and starting from part two. Having worked with Dan Cross (2x Wilbur and Niso Smith Foundation Finalist), as one of my associate editors on Write On! for quite some time, I trusted his judgement, so when he started up the Open Book Editor: holistic support for writers, within a transparent process, I thought I would approach him.

I knew Dan liked my writing, as he’d been a fan of my traditionally published debut, Mother of Floods so when Dan came to the same conclusion as me couple of weeks in, it was hard, but almost came as a relief as well . His experience allowed me to understand how to move into a new direction entirely, looking at Mother Of Floods as a stand-alone prequel, with Sisters Of The Storm, Brothers Of The Fire and Children Of The Gods, as the fantasy trilogy.

Dan gave me the input and the support I needed and I am now nearly 20,000 words in and feeling energised and inspired, essentially because I know that this is the right direction. I would most definitely recommend his approach!

My book is a biography about my journey in an engineering field which is predominantly male. It is my first book and I wanted it to be awesome so that I set my brand's quality from the beginning.

Dan helped me polish up the book and I have many reviewers talking about the great set up and the clearly written and laid out chapters. I am very happy.

Dan had a lot of ideas he put across to me during the editing of the book. He did both the developmental edit and the copy editing for me. He did not shy away from suggesting things he thought would make the book better, but he did not pressure me into accepting his ideas. It was my call at the end of the day and I liked that.

Dan is someone who is easy to talk to. Even though we were engaging for the first time, I was relaxed in my interactions with him.

Oh yes! I had a deadline to meet as I wanted to publish my book on my birthday. I worked night and day to make this happen, and so did Dan, just to make sure I met my publication date. Thanks Dan!

I will definitely be getting in touch for any future books I will write.
